Rehab Medical Acquires Austin Wheelchair Company, Expands Footprint in Texas

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Rehab Medical, a national complex rehab technology (CRT) company, announced its expansion into Austin, Texas after the acquisition of Austin Wheelchair Company. For more than two decades, Austin Wheelchair Co. has proudly served mobility users in the Lone Star State, growing its business from a small custom wheelchair provider to a full service durable medical equipment (DME) provider.

“We are excited to welcome the team at Austin Wheelchair Company to the Rehab Medical family.” — Kevin Gearheart, Rehab Medical President

“When we look at growth through acquisition, it is critical to find the right fit," said Gearheart. "Specifically, we look for providers who are just as passionate about service excellence and the patient experience as we are. Austin Wheelchair exemplifies those characteristics, and we are looking forward to building on the great foundation of care that is currently in place.”

Austin Wheelchair Co.’s eight-person operation, including two ATP’s, will all transition to Rehab Medical’s team. With the acquisition of Austin Wheelchair Co., Rehab Medical now operates in three major metro markets in Texas and has a total of 28 operating offices nationwide.

“Expanding our footprint into Austin and onboarding Austin Wheelchair Company is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us.” — Kenneth Flaming, Regional Sales Director

“Since the opening of our San Antonio office, we’ve witnessed rapid growth, exceptional teamwork, and a stronger drive to improve lives,” added Flaming.

In the last three years the company has expanded its footprint into new markets in Florida, Ohio, Indiana, and most recently Tennessee as part of their dedication to serving the patient’s unique mobility needs.
