Rehab Medical, a leading provider of custom mobility solutions, has been honored as the 2024 Corporate Partner of the Year by Servants at Work (SAWs), a nonprofit organization dedicated to building wheelchair ramps for individuals with mobility challenges. This recognition celebrates Rehab Medical’s ongoing commitment to improving lives through strategic community investment and its people-first culture.
“When we looked at SAWs’ work—building wheelchair ramps and creating safe access into and out of the home—the partnership was a natural fit,” said Rehab Medical President Kevin Gearheart. “Both organizations serve the same purpose from different angles. We focus on independence inside the home, while SAWS focuses on accessibility to the home and community.
Together, we remove barriers—literally and figuratively. Our missions align perfectly, and that makes this collaboration not only meaningful but essential to improving lives in a more holistic way.”
SAWs, headquartered in Indianapolis, has constructed thousands of ramps across Indiana and beyond, empowering individuals with disabilities to safely enter and exit their homes. Most recently, the non-profit organization constructed its 5,000th ramp for a family of four, including a 6-year-old with autism and epilepsy. Rehab Medical provided both funding and volunteers for the milestone build, reinforcing why the company was named SAWs 2024 Corporate Partner of the Year.
"Our 6-year-old has autism and epilepsy, and he has tripped and hurt himself multiple times," said the SAWs ramp recipient. "I also fell down the stairs at 6 months pregnant with our now 10-month-old. We were afraid of the stairs falling through while in use. We are at a loss. But someone from our church recommended we reach out to SAWs. We were so grateful to have them come out and build a walkway that's safe for my family. Thank you so much."
Rehab Medical has supported SAWs since the fall of 2019 by donating nearly $75,000, supplying nearly 150 volunteers, and contributing nearly 700 volunteer hours.

The Corporate Partner of the Year award is presented annually to a company that exemplifies outstanding support for SAWs’ mission—through financial contributions, volunteerism, and advocacy. SAWs' Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held on Saturday, October 18th where more than 80 guests were in attendance. Rehab Medical Employee Experience Manager Jessi Harris was amongst the list of attendees. She was presented the Corporate Partner of the Year award by SAWs Executive Director Tim Thurston, where she accepted the honor on behalf of Rehab Medical.
“We’re honored to be recognized as the SAWs 2024 Corporate Partner of the Year,” said Harris. “SAWs’ mission to provide freedom and independence aligns beautifully with our own mission to improve lives—especially those of our patients who benefit directly from this important work.
Together, we’re able to amplify our impact and make a meaningful difference in our community. We deeply value the service SAWs provides and are grateful for the opportunity to partner in advancing such life-changing efforts.”

SAWs founder Rik Hagarty praised the company’s consistent engagement, noting that Rehab Medical employees have volunteered hundreds of hours to ramp builds, participated in fundraising efforts, and helped amplify SAWs’ message across the healthcare industry.
"Rehab Medical’s commitment to accessibility and active support of our mission in 2024 have made a powerful, measurable difference for the people we serve,” said Hagarty. “They’ve not only helped us bring ramps to those who need them—they’ve helped restore independence, safety, and connection for families across Indiana.".
